Making Memories
By Cashana Seals (c) 2010 Memories are thoughtful expressions of experiences whether good or bad that make a lasting impression. I strive to make memories that will last forever. I hope to witness all that is beautiful and wonderful in this lifetime and make it the screenplay of my life. Don’t get me wrong there are some memories that can be categorized as nightmares, but for the most part life is as beautiful as you make it. When I went on the Anniversary cruise, I don’t know what I was expecting but I knew I was going to get some much needed rest. Hey, that is what I do on vacation; I take naps and do what I want to do. One of the things Kristine said to me when I was booking the cruise was that maybe when I cruise this time I will get to see it from the eyes of those who have never been to the Bahamas. I hoped she was right, because every cruise I have ever been on has taken me to the Bahamas and up until recently each year the cruise would get worse in relations to customer service, food and activities. However, embarking on this particular cruise allowed me to sow memories that will always bring a smile to my face. When we gathered together in the parking lot and prayed, we embarked on the beginning of a memorable vacation. Poor Gil was the only male and I dare to say he enjoyed being a part of our history, our memories. We made the trip in record time considering the rain, the deer and some questionable driving (just kidding!). When we arrived in Orlando, I know I was thankful and I knew the memories couldn’t get better. Only thing was my vision was crossing and my attitude was funky, because this memory maker needed sleep, desperately. Those who had never cruised were part of my favorite memories because their eyes bore the excitement and anticipation as they saw the cruise ship. They were the epitome of eagerness and they were truly animated as we boarded the ship for a celebration of sisterhood, strength and the book club. Even I, who was blinded through exhaustion, say the exhilaration of these members. I knew that this trip would be different from any other. From the beginning, we bonded through more than just our books. We enjoyed each other, got on each other’s nerves but most of all we made lasting memories. From the Nassau excursion, to the race to catch the setting sun we took time to enjoy each other and I thank each of you for giving me a positive and lasting memory of what makes this group wonderful. Each of us makes up the Imani Book Club, and although everything is not always perfect we know how to make memories that bring smiles to our faces and faith in the belief that what was started 11 years ago was worth it. I thank each of you for making the Imani Book Club more than just a book club, but a gathering of faith and beautiful memories. Imani!
