AUTHORS
As of
10/01/2007 the Imani Book Club will not be accepting new submission until
our Literary event in November is over. (Well, our event is over and
we are still behind.) Due to death in my immediate family we will
not accept any new submissions at this time. It is unfair for us to
commit to read your work only to not have it reviewed in a reasonable
amount of time.
Also, we only have 2 reviewers we cannot review any new submissions.
We will try to get all reviews previously submitted done as soon as
possible. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Imani Book Club is committed to
supporting literature by African-Americans. If you are an author and
wish to have your book considered by the Imani Book Club for next year's
syllabus, or featured on the website, you may submit a press kit and a review copy to the following address:

so that we can notify you when your materials have been received and also let
you know if and/or when your work will be featured.
*The Imani Book Club will
no longer review non-fiction or poetry at this time. Unfortunately,
we do not have enough reviewers who will read non-fiction or poetry.
Hopefully, in the future, poetry submissions will be accepted.
We look forward to your
submissions and will try to get our reviews posted on the website as soon
as possible. As much as we like reviewing your websites, we cannot
use your website as an inducement for our members to choose your
books. A review copy is preferred. However, if you want to be
featured on our site a press kit is fine, but a review copy of your novel
with a press kit is a better inducement for being featured on our site. Please note that on our
syllabus this year we have 2 books that were sent to us as review copies and the reviewing member loved the book and we
chose it for our yearly syllabus. We are interested in helping,
promoting and supporting African-American authors and we will do our best
to get the word out about your books.
Also, we are seeking authors to
attend our book club meetings. If you are an author and we have
chosen your book for our syllabus and would be interested in joining us
during our spirit filled meetings, please contact Cashana at imanivoices@aol.com.

Due to the large submission of books, we try to have
them posted as soon as possible usually within 3 to 9 months from receiving
the review copy. Due to the large volume and limited staff, we
cannot get all reviews posted/and or reviewed in this time frame. We
are an unpaid group of avid readers who enjoy reading, but also have
families and careers that may limit our favorite past time. We ask
that you be patient and if you think we are taking too long, you are
welcome to email imanivoices@aol.com
for a status report. However, if you wish to have the review
before it is posted, please let us know.
